How we grade this

“Selected” only means something if it can be measured, so Kun and Chuangui select this bark against three things: a minimum thickness, an even scrape across the sheet, and a clean cut face with visible oil. Thin, split or blotchy pieces are sorted out. They weigh a stack against a reference and snap pieces to smell them: clean, sweet and warming passes; sour, musty or burnt does not.

What does “selected” mean here?

Hand-picked sheets that meet the thickness, scraping and appearance limits written in your specification. We record those limits with the sample.

Is this oil cassia?

Not unless the offer says so. Purple-oil cassia from the Fangcheng area is a separate, higher grade from trees of 15–20 years: 4–6 mm thick, with an oily purple cut. It trades at 80–150% above ordinary bark.

What is selected bark used for?

Cutting to your own sizes, repacking and visible culinary use, where a clean scraped face matters.
